Flavored whiskies are becoming more and more common. Western Spirit’s line of Bird Dog whiskies, might be the most diverse as far as flavors offered. If someone in your party is scared of “the Bourbon bite” or is more of a cocktail person, then these situations are where flavored whiskies shine. Here are some cocktails perfect for poolside this summer.
.75 oz. (22.5 ml) Bird Dog Peach Whiskey
.25 oz. (7.5 ml) Orange Juice
Sparkling Wine or Prosecco
Preparation: Add the Peach Whiskey and Orange Juice to a shaker with Ice. Shake to combine. Pour into a champagne flute. Top with Sparkling Wine. Garnish with an orange wedge.
1 oz. (30 ml) Bird Dog Blackberry Whiskey
1 oz. (30 ml) Rum (light)
Fresh Sprigs of Mint
2 Sugar Cubes
Lime & Club Soda
Preparation: Add 5-6 mint leaves, sugar cubes and a splash of club soda to a shaker and muddle. Add in ice, Blackberry Whiskey and Rum. Shake to combine and get flavor out of mint leaves. Pour into a tall glass, top with more Ice and Soda. Garnish with Lime and Mint
.5 oz. (15 ml) Bird Dog Blackberry Whiskey
1 oz. (30ml) Gin
.25 oz. (7.5 ml) Cointreau
.5 oz. (15 ml) Lime Juice
.3 oz. (10 ml) Grenadine
4 oz. (120 ml) Pineapple Juice
Preparation: Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake Vigorously till frothy. Strain into a large cocktail glass. Garnish with lots of fruit, a pool and an umbrella if you have it!
